Finding Amplitude

You can find the amplitude of a wave from the snapshot graph OR the history graph. It is the vertical distance from equilibrium ($y=0$) to the crest of the wave. Its units are the same as the units of displacement.

Common mistakes:

• Measuring the distance from crest to trough. This will be twice the amplitude.
• Recording the highest number on the vertical axis.
